CIPD speaking events

We had great fun last month speaking at two important CIPD events, the first at the ICC in Birmingham on June 10th and London Olympia June 18th. The hot topic? ‘Generation Y: An age or an attitude’

It’s a great feeling speaking to a packed house and these sessions were no exception. The interest around the New World of Work (Work 2.0) is really gaining momentum, everyone seems to be talking about the changing workplace and how the Generation Y values, Technology and flattening of Hierarchies are changing the way we all approach work. A couple of catch phrases we have coined seem to capture the mood nicely:

“Work used to be somewhere you went, now its something you do”

“People used to say ‘I work for XYZ they now say I work with XYZ “

As Bob Dylan once said (I know that’s a Baby Boomer reference) ”The times they are a changing” and in the employer-employee contract he couldn’t be more correct. Hold on to your ipods the revolution has only just begun!
