What an incredible journey over the last month! Emma has been included in the 2008 Management Today’s women to watch list – 35 women under 35. The annual list, now in its 6th year, recognises the alpha females who are out there making a difference and inspiring others along the way.

This year, it is all about women who are ‘seizing the day.’ Appearing on the cover of the Management Today July issue, and the Sunday Times Business section, Emma is the third youngest on the list and epitomises Generation Y coming of age.

We had great fun last month speaking at two important CIPD events, the first at the ICC in Birmingham on June 10th and London Olympia June 18th. The hot topic? ‘Generation Y: An age or an attitude’

While onsite at the Corus Port Talbot Steelworks we were excited to meet two of the high potential Tata secondees during their stay in South Wales. Praveen and Dipak joined us on our site tour of the Blast Furnaces and Hot Rolling Mill, the two Tata employees shared their experiences about the operations in India and described their roles at Port Talbot over the coming months. 

In November last year we launched the Next Big Thing concept at Liverpool University with Dr Paul Redmond, Head of Careers & Employability Service. We returned in June to judge the final – and what a challenge it was!!

BBC Radio Scotland talk Generation Y
We joined Fred MacAulay last month on his BBC Radio Scotland show ‘MacAulay and Co’ to talk about Generation Y and the impact these curious creatures have on the workplace. Our creative genious Sally is working around the clock to create a brand new website for our generational research business, Ask Gen Y, next month so be sure to check it out when we go live. Join us for one of our high impact ‘powwow’ sessions
The ‘new world of work’ and ‘generational theory’ has sparked huge interest in the last six months, no doubt generating some interesting debate amongst you and your colleagues. We are holding one of our high impact ‘powwow’ sessions at our very groovy offices in Central London, to bring together a small group of people to explore the 7 factors affecting the changing world of work and the associated implications / opportunities.

Engaging with Innovative Ideas – Focus this month : Expert Alumni...With half of the working population about to retire, companies are struggling to manage without their experience and having difficulty transferring such expertise to the younger generations. Expert Alumni work with professionals who want to continue making a difference by applying their skills, knowledge and expertise in the workplace in projects, full or flex-time roles or in coaching, mentoring or training.

Emma talks to 14-16 year olds at Badminton Girls school...Opening the Careers Fair at Badminton School on Saturday 10th May, Emma caused quite a stir and certainly woke the young girls up!

We were recently given the opportunity to work with the talent team of Resourcers at Yell, who are responsible for recruiting sales and operational staff across the UK. We labeled this highly interactive Conference ‘Develop your recruiting skills for the new world of work’.
